Passion Fruit

Passion Fruit

Passionfruit, also called Maracuja in Brazil, and known by its INCI name as Passiflora Edulis, is native to the Amazon and other tropical regions of North and South America. It produces a long, woody vine that creates beautiful colorful flowers and delicious, nutritious fruit. Each vine can reach an average length of up to 50 meters. The fruit from the passionflower is round in shape and can be yellow or dark purple when ripe, with a soft, juicy interior filled with seeds.  Passion fruit is packed full of nutrients that are beneficial to your skin and has been used medicinally in the Amazon for hundreds of years. Although passion fruit can do great things for your health such as help regulate blood pressure and boost immunity it can also provide great benefits for the skin. Because of the high Vitamin C and antioxidants and high fatty acid content, passion fruit improves skin tone, retains moisture, and balances oily skin.

There are three antioxidants that lessen the sun's effect on the skin and prevent further damage: selenium, vitamin E, and vitamin C. Vitamin C and the antioxidants in passion fruit repair free radicals and slow the effects of aging in the skin. They also preserve collagen and elastin, which are essential for keeping skin young and firm.

The Vitamin C and antioxidants in Passion Fruit help promote collagen production and fight free radicals, pollution, and other environmental stressors while helping to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, making it incredibly hydrating, healing, and protecting.

Due to its moisturizing qualities, products that include passion fruit extract can help protect the skin from the daily pollution and bacteria we face in everyday life. Its anti-inflammatory properties can reduce harmful bacteria, prevent acne breakouts, facilitate wound healing, and promote skin regeneration.

Unlike other products, passion fruit extract is light, non-greasy, and quickly absorbed into the skin. It's non-comedogenic and won't clog the pores, making passion fruit an excellent moisturizer for all skin types, susceptible and acne-prone skin.

Passion fruit contains vitamin A which encourages the production of healthy skin cells and keeps the skin firm and healthy. The other benefits of vitamin A for skincare are as follows: help skin retain moisture and improve blood flow, making it look younger and prevent aging and wrinkling
